Over the last twenty years I have tried to help
boaters with their refrigeration problems. My book "Do-
It-Yourself Boat Refrigeration" was designed to
help select, design and build refrigeration systems for
extended cruising boats. The do it yourself book has grown
to five times its original size. One year after the third
edition of the book was printed, I
realized a need to add much more material on 12/24 volt
refrigeration systems, DC
power generation and power management to the existing
book. To add an additional 120 pages to the existing book
would be a mistake so the answer had to be a new book or
better yet a 12/24 Volt Refrigeration Manual and include
what works and what does not. For those who have larger
refrigeration needs than their onboard DC power systems
can provide, the do it yourself book is what is
needed as it is heavy into engine driven refrigeration.
For small 12/24 refrigeration that is intended to be run
off the boat's battery bank, the 12/24 volt manual
provides the best up to date material you can find
